Following a joint rescue operation between the Scottish SPCA and BDMLR, 44 pilot whales that live stranded at Kyle of Durness were refloated.

Scottish SPCA Senior Inspector Andy Brown said, "Following a joint rescue operation with BDMLR, we successfully managed to refloat approximately 44 of the whales.

"Sadly, approximately 15 whales died and five had to be put to sleep.Rescuers with whales web

"We would like to thank the local Coastgaurd and the Royal Navy who were both of great assistance to us during the operation."
