The Scottish SPCA and British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) have launched a joint rescue operation in a bid to save 19 pilot whales that have live stranded on the coast at Kyle of Durness.
Scottish SPCA Senior Inspector Andy Brown said, "There are approximately 70 whales in the water that have split into two pods.
"19 whales have live stranded in two different locations on the coastline.
"We are currently working with BDMLR to keep the stranded whales wet and upright until a vet arrives to assess them."
