An Ayrshire woman has been banned from owning animals for five years following a Scottish SPCA investigation.
Dawn Price (32), of MacAdam Square, admitted causing two dogs and a cat unnecessary suffering by failing to provide them with adequate nutrition and veterinary care.
Appearing at Ayr Sheriff Court, Price was also sentenced to 180 hours of community service.
Scottish SPCA Inspector Arianne Harkness said, "When we arrived we found two dogs and a cat living in a horrendous and filthy environment, surrounded by their own faeces.
"All three animals were painfully thin and extremely hungry.
"Upon further investigation the kindest decision was for the female labrador cross we removed from Price's property to be put to sleep due to an underlying health condition.
"We were relieved to be able to rehome the male collie cross and male tabby cat we rescued, though only after they had been returned to full health thanks to the care they received from our rescue and rehoming centre team.
"A ban was entirely appropriate because Price demonstrated she was not fit to look after animals."
