The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after a swan was found dead and dismembered on the River Dee.
The bird was found by a member of the public on Sunday evening (13 February), only days after the charity had issued a warning to the public following dog attacks on two swans by the Bridge of Dee.
Chief Inspector John Carle said, "This swan was found in the same area that the other two swans were injured although we don't know if the incidents are linked.
"We believe that a person has dismembered the swan and the injuries are not the result of a dog attack.
"A post mortem will be carried out to establish the exact cause of death.
"This is a very serious and cruel act and we are keen to find the person responsible.
"Anyone with information regarding the dead swan should call our animal helpline on 03000 999 999."
It is an offence to injure or kill a wild swan under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
