The Scottish SPCA has reunited a Kirkintilloch family with their dog, eight months after he disappeared.
Buddha, a five year old male Staffordshire bull terrier, went missing from his garden in July.
Luckily, he was found by a member of the public who spotted him wandering in a car park in Coatbridge, over eight miles from his home, and took him to the local police station in Bellshill.
Buddha was then taken to our animal rescue and rehoming centre in Hamilton.
Thankfully, Buddha had been microchipped so he was quickly returned to his family.
Owner Agnes Campbell said, "It's wonderful to have Buddha back and the kids were thrilled when he came home.
"We think he either escaped or was stolen from the garden and someone has kept him for the past eight months.
"I cried when I got the call from the centre as I was so happy."
Gillian Boyle, deputy assistant manager at the centre, said, "Buddha was lucky he wasn't involved in a traffic accident as he was found very close to the M8 motorway.
"He was in good health when he was found so someone has obviously been looking after him.
"This case highlights the importance of getting your pets microchipped as without one it is unlikely we would have been able to trace Buddha's owners.
"We're delighted he's finally back home with his family."
