Charity visits primary schools
The Scottish SPCA is inviting primary schools in Scotland to take part in its Prevention through Education programme this year.
Aimed at primary four to seven pupils, the programme is offered free of charge and encourages children to treat animals with compassion and respect.
Scotland's animal welfare charity spoke to over 81,000 children across Scotland last year.
Education Manager Gilly Mendes Ferreira said, "Our programme is tailored to the Curriculum for Excellence and we've had fantastic feedback from our school visits.
"The children love meeting our inspectors and ambulance drivers and really enjoy the interactive talks and role play.
"Sadly, cruelty to animals continues to be a significant problem in Scotland and it's vital that children learn how to treat animals at an early age.
"We'll be contacting every school in Scotland and offering to come along and visit but schools are also welcome to get in touch with us if they'd like to book early."
