Pup dumped on Perth street

Tallulah was found on Tulloch Hill, Perth

The Scottish SPCA is appealing to the public for information after a four month old puppy was found tied to a lamppost on a Perth street with her food and bowls beside her.

A local resident spotted the young female terrier crossbreed abandoned on Tulloch Hill, Perth some time between 6.30 and 7pm on Wednesday evening (17 August).

She was tied to the lamppost by her collar and lead and next to her were two food bowls, some tins of dog food and treats.

The concerned member of the public contacted us for help and the pup is now being cared for at our Angus, Tayside and Fife Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre at Petterden, Dundee, where staff have named her Tallulah.

Chief Inspector Brian Cowing said, "This is a friendly little dog that was found in good health and body condition so it's a mystery as to why she has been abandoned.

"It may be that her owner has grown tired of her or has become unable to cope with the demands of owning a puppy, we just don't know.

"It's clear from the location and the way in which she was abandoned that whoever did this expected her to be found quickly, but this doesn't excuse this sort of behaviour.

"Abandoning an animal is an offence and it's something we take seriously so we are urging anyone who recognises Tallulah and knows who owned her to call our Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999."

Anyone who is prosecuted and found guilty of abandoning an animal can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.
