A raid in relation to bird poisoning on premises in South Lanarkshire has uncovered a quantity of chemicals, believed to be illegal pesticides.
The search, which took place on Wednesday (11 November), was conducted as a result of a Scottish SPCA led investigation involving the National Wildlife Crime Unit, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and the Scottish Government Rural Payments and Investigations Directorate.
Scottish SPCA Chief Superintendent Mike Flynn said, "Wildlife crimes such as bird poisonings are extremely difficult to expose, but this operation shows that it can be possible to successfully detect and investigate this sort of activity when the right people are involved and, critically, when a fast response is achieved."
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Anyone wishing to report an injured or distressed animal, including any information relating to wildlife crime, should call the Scottish SPCA Animal Helpline: 03000 999 999. Information can be provided anonymously.
