Cat found freezing on window ledge

14 Feb 2013

The Scottish SPCA is seeking the owner of a young cat found freezing on a window ledge in Lockerbie.

We were contacted by a resident of Johnstone Court on Wednesday morning (13 February) after they opened their curtains to discover the black and white long-haired female cat struggling outside their home.

Now named Winter, she is recovering at our Ayrshire and South West Scotland Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Inspector Janet Proudlock said, "There had been snow in the early hours of the morning and the temperature was very low.

"Winter was really extremely cold and wet when she was found so the lady immediately took her inside to try and warm her up.

"She appeared lifeless initially but thankfully her body temperature began to rise as she lay in front of the radiator and she improved a great deal.

"I took Winter straight to a vet and she is continuing to do well.

"She is a young cat, around seven months old, and incredibly friendly.

"Unfortunately, Winter doesn't have any identification so we're hoping someone will recognise her.

"If no one comes forward, we'll find this beautiful girl a new and loving home."

Anyone who recognises Winter is being asked to call our Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
