The Scottish SPCA is seeking the owner of a friendly African grey parrot found in Cupar, Fife.
We were contacted by an employee of Pillars of Hercules Farm Shop in Falkland, who spotted the bird in a tree on Sunday (5 August).
Now nicknamed Dexter, the parrot is being cared for at our Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre at Balerno.
Animal Rescue Officer Robyn Gray said, "The lady who called us had spotted Dexter in a tree and was worried he'd be attacked by another bird so she managed to pick him up and contain him until I arrived.
"Dexter had pulled some feathers out from his chest and back, which is most likely due to stress, but these should grow back.
"Despite being a bit frightened when he was found, he's a really friendly and hand tame bird, so there's probably a worried owner out there looking for him.
"Dexter does have a ring on his leg but unfortunately this doesn't hold any information about who owns him.
"Hopefully someone will recognise Dexter and we'll soon be returning this lovely parrot home."
Anyone who recognises Dexter is being asked to call our Animal Helpline on 03000 999 999.
