Scottish SPCA Inspectors and Ambulance Drivers form our Inspectorate, which is supported by our Animal Helpline staff.
Our Inspectorate is unique among animal welfare organisations in being a specialist reporting agency to the Procurator Fiscal Service. All of our Inspectors are authorised to enforce the welfare provisions of the Animal Health and Welfare Scotland Act 2006.
While many of our investigations into cruelty to animals involve co-operation with the police, our Inspectors can report cases directly to the Procurator Fiscal Service without police assistance.
Inspectorate training is vigorous and covers topics such as animal handling and rescue, criminal law and dealing with the media.
The roles of Scottish SPCA Inspectors and Ambulance Drivers are extremely varied, ranging from emergency animal rescues to providing advice and giving evidence in court.
Competition to join our Inspectorate and work on the frontline of animal welfare is intense. Our vacancies section lists any jobs currently available.
